A BRIEF HISTORY :

126 years ago, the tragic shipwreck and dramatic rescue of the Norwegian bark, Dictator brought Virginians and Norwegians together.

55 years ago, the Norwegian Lady arrived and she stands as a testament to the friendship and sisterhood between Virginia Beach and Moss, Norway.

On March 25, 2017,  a special anniversary ceremony will be held bringing together Norwegians, Americans and friends to commemorate this remarkable event in our local history.

There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony at the Coast Guard Museum. This Annual Commemoration Ceremony is supported by the Norwegian Lady Plaza Foundation, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Virginia Beach Fire Dept, Old Coast Guard Station Museum, Sons of Norway 3-522 and the Norwegian NATO & Military Service Members.
